Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.” NASB
Drawn to this photo, I instantly thought of how beautiful the red Dipladenia against white is. The delicate beauty seems to be supported by a hardy birch.
We know from scripture another scenario. Jesus—his shed blood—supported by a different type of tree. A cross.
What brought me comfort when seeing this photo was Jesus’ words before he died, “It is finished.” For all who put their faith in him, the war against sin ended.
His beauty continues. He rose from the grave, ascended into heaven, now sits beside God the father and intercedes for us.
Isaiah 1:18 tells me God wants to have a conversation. He has made the way open in hopes to exchange our poverty for his riches, our rags for his righteous robes. And, I might add, robes that are whiter than any birch tree.
Today, the vivid red against a white birch tree reminded me of how the Lord exchanges his beauty for our ashes. I’m grateful for God’s grace today.
